A Writing Course To Suit You

No two aspiring authors are the same. That's why the support I offer will be carefully tailored to your own particular needs. There is no set 'package' catering for all.

How It Works

First I will ask you to send me a sample of your writing between 1000 and 5000 words long. If you've already started writing a book, you'll be asked to send a brief synopsis too. Nothing is expected to be of a professional standard at this stage. You will simply be giving me an idea of the direction you have in mind and a sense of your individual writing style. You should send a covering letter with your sample, telling me what you hope to achieve with your writing.

When I have assessed your sample I will respond and suggest ways in which we might proceed. If I feel unable to help with your work - for instance because the genre is beyond my field of experience - I will be frank but will always try to suggest an alternative source of assistance.

Those who e-mail samples should usually expect to receive a response within a week to ten days. Once you've digested the response, you should let me know if you wish me to devise a course for you.

Costs

You will be asked to send £20.00 if you plan to send a sample.

If, after my response to your work you wish me to go ahead and tailor-make a course for you, you will be asked to send a further £50.00.

If you are struggling financially you are welcome to place a ceiling on the cost of your course. This will enable me to plan my hours of input while devising the course. If you choose not to give a ceiling, I will give you a clear indication of potential costs while I'm in the process of creating the course. I can adjust the length of the course and my hours of input according to your wishes.

The cost of my input is £10.00 per hour. As an example, setting a task for the week for you will generally take under an hour but 'marking' the results and making suggestions concerning your work will take longer. Therefore if you would like weekly support with your writing you will probably be paying approximately £30.00 per week.
